Ratan Naval Tata, an Indian industrialist and philanthropist who served as chairman of Tata Sons, was born on December 28, 1937, and passed away on October 9, 2024. He was the Tata Group’s chairman from 1990 to 2012, and from October 2016 to February 2017, he held the position in an acting capacity. He oversaw its philanthropic trusts. After being awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honor, in 2000, he was bestowed with the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honor in India, in 2008.
